Joe Rooney (Father Damo)
Patrick McDonnell (Eoin McLove)

Joe Rooney

Joe is probably best known for his role as Father Damo in the "Father Ted" series. He started his comedy career as half of The Quacksquad, a comedy duo that went on to write and perform on "Nighthawks", "The Late Late Show" (with his personal interpretation of Riverdance) and RTE's first sitcom, "Flatheads".

'I'm still laughing at the thought of Fr. Damien (Damo) Lennon, the gurrier curate who lead Fr. Dougal astray…He was an inspired invention and was brilliantly played by Joe Rooney' The Sunday Independent

Patrick McDonnell

From his role as Eoin McLove in Father Ted to his many hilarious characters on ‘Naked Camera’ and ‘Stew’, Patrick McDonnell is no stranger to our television screens. However, if you haven’t seen his unique brand of stand-up comedy, you’re truly missing out.

Thu, 24 Mar 2011 16:06:54 +0000Adam Neeson14@http://iseefunnypeople.com/
It is possible for young comedians (under 18) to perform comedy. I did a few gigs between the ages of 13-18 so I know first hand that it is hard to get gigs. Calling or emailing in advance is the best thing to do. Like Morgan said, you'll most likely have to bring a guardian over 18. Honesty is the best policy, and treat the bar/club with respect.

Tue, 22 Mar 2011 12:21:48 +0000Morgan Hearst13@http://iseefunnypeople.com/
If by young you mean new comedians then there are some opportunities around NI.

In Belfast there is a fortnightly open mic night at The Pavilion and in Mason's in Derry there is a monthly open mic night called Gagging Order. These are good places to get a few gigs under your belt.

There are also lots of small gigs dotted about the place that allow short spots for new comedians to cut their teeth.

If you meant young as in under 18 then that may be a problem as most comedy nights are held in bars and you may need a parent or guardian with you.

Gavin Webster

Gavin Webster is loud, sharp and controversial – and audiences love him for it. He’s a true Geordie with superb stage presence. His material is bold and provocative yet delivered in a charming manner which has brought him much praise and deserved attention.

“Tough talking no nonsense Geordie wit” The Scotsman
“Loud, acerbic and razor sharp” Newcastle Evening Chronicle

Paul McCaffrey

Over the past year, Paul's been scooping up awards all over the place! His assured delivery and beautifully observed material leada to bizarre flights into silliness and darkly gleeful rants. He's also recently supported Lucy Porter on her national tour.

“He has charm, charisma and success written all over him” Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard
